Supporting TMC’s BBC ProjectIn addition to exporting shock absorbers to Thailand, Toyota Tsusho was alsoimporting diesel engines from Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd., and gasolineengines from Indonesia. Toyota Tsusho then became involved in TMC’s BBC(Brand-to-Brand Complementation) project, an initiative agreed to by ASEANmembers to enable the reciprocal supply of auto parts in response to the rapideconomic growth and expansion of automobile production in Southeast Asia. Aspart of this project, in April 1992 Toyota Tsusho started exporting shock absorbersmade by Kayaba (Malaysia) sdn. It provided logistics services to localcustomers and was the first logistics company with 100% Japanese capital inIndonesia. In 1999, Toyota Tsushoincreased its share ratio to turn BP into a wholly owned subsidiary, and it wasrenamed Toyota Tsusho South Pacific Holdings Pty Ltd. (TTSPH) and operatedas a holding company for distributors in seven countries.
