Machinery, Energy & Project

The Machinery, Energy & Project Division conducts business in three areas-machinery, energy solutions, and infrastructure solutions.

Note: The earlier power project business and energy and plant business fields were reorganized as the energy solutions and infrastructure solutions fields in April 2021.

In the machinery business, the division provides integrated support capabilities for production equipment, mainly for the automotive production industry. In its non-automotive business, the division sells industrial equipment, medical and analytical devices, textile machinery, and other equipment around the world. The division also develops smart factory (SF) products and next-generation semiconductor equipment.

In the energy solutions business, the division contributes to the establishment of a decarbonized society by focusing on wind, solar, hydroelectric, geothermal, biomass, and other renewable energy power generation projects, offering solutions in countries around the world. In addition, the division contributes to stabile and low-cost renewable energy supply through the development of virtual power plants (VPPs) and distributed power supplies.

In the infrastructure solutions business, the division develops infrastructure facilities from proposal to financing, design, procurement, and construction and operates infrastructure such as airports and ports to contribute to solutions to social issues in emerging countries. The division is also working to reduce environmental impacts by supplying clean fuels for use by ships including switching to LNG and biodiesel.

Strengthening the Renewable Energy Business

In the wind and solar power fields, the division analyzes extensive power generation operating data and reduces costs by stabilizing electric power supplies through high operating efficiency and cutting maintenance expenses. The division also plans to expand its power source portfolio to hydroelectric, geothermal, biomass, and more, expand territories to include Africa and the Middle East, and expand functions to distributed power, power storage, transmission, and retail sales, thereby reinforcing the renewable energy business.

Strengthening the Renewable Energy Business

Feature 1

The division not only procures and sells various types of machinery and equipment but also provides comprehensive support services from planning, proposals, and technological development to quality control, efficient logistics, installation, and after-sales services, significantly contributing to the building of customers' production systems.

Feature 2

A wealth of operational data from wind power stations is analyzed to conduct efficient maintenance, which raises operation rates and lowers operating costs. The division aims to leverage its ability to deliver stable, cost-effective solutions to become the No. 1 wind power station operator in other regions as well.

Initiatives in the Third Quarter of the Fiscal Year Ending March 31, 2021

In order to stabilize and increase the efficiency of electric power supply in Egypt, working in collaboration with Elsewedy Electric S.A.E. the division obtained an order for a project to upgrade distribution systems from Egyptian Electricity Holding Company and North Cairo Electricity Distribution Company, companies under the umbrella of Egypt's Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, in November 2020. Distribution facilities will be updated and augmented with a target of commencing system operation in mid-2023.
