Toyota Tsusho Corporation ("Toyota Tsusho") signed a distributor agreement in June 2021 with the Israeli startup company Cybellum Technologies Ltd. ("Cybellum"), which provides security services for automobiles. Toyota Tsusho is the first company to conclude a distributor agreement for the Japanese market.

The number of connected cars equipped with communication modules is increasing year by year, and it is said that it will exceed 100 million units by 2035 (5.3 times compared to 2016)*. With the spread of connected cars, countermeasures against cyber security threats are urgently needed, and the UN subcommittee has adopted regulations related to cyber security countermeasures (UNR155), and measures are being taken in each country. In Japan, as automobile manufacturers will be obliged to respond to UNR155 from July 2022, it is expected that the organizational structure and process construction for cyber-attacks will become an issue.

The vulnerability management solution from Cybellum is a specialized platform for detecting and analyzing connected car vulnerabilities against cyber-attacks. Toyota Tsusho will sell Cybellum's vulnerability management solution to automobile manufacturers in Japan to support connected car cyber risk countermeasures from the development stage to post-launch.
