Toyota Tsusho Corporation ("Toyota Tsusho") announces the establishment of the Task Force for Promoting Carbon Neutrality ("TPCN") on April 1, 2021, as a groupwide organization aimed at accelerating action to achieve carbon neutrality.

As climate change is a major issue that affects all forms of life on earth, the Toyota Tsusho Group identified "contribute to the transition to a carbon-free society by reducing automotive, manufacturing, and energy plant construction CO₂ emissions through the use of clean energy and innovative technologies" as one of its key sustainability issues (materiality) established in 2018. Through establishment of the task force, Toyota Tsusho plans to promote and accelerate its contribution to CO₂ reduction through the industrial lifecycle on the groupwide level.

The Chief Digital Technology Officer (CDTO) and the organization under the CDTO are expected to manage the groupwide organization and promote action. This brings the number of groupwide organizations under Toyota Tsusho to three, namely, the newly established Task Force for Promoting Carbon Neutrality as well as the existing Next Mobility Development Department and DX Acceleration Department.

The Task Force will promote operations that contribute to carbon neutrality and to the creation of a circular economy through the industrial lifecycle, ranging from energy production to manufacturing, transport, and waste disposal/recycling.
