Toyota Tsusho Group’s GHG Reduction Targets Certified by SBTi
Target Type | Target Year | Scope | Reduction Target |
---|---|---|---|
Near-term targets (1.5°C aligned) | 2030 | Scope 1 & 2 | Reduce emissions by 50% compared to 2019 |
Scope 3 | Reduce emissions by 27.5% compared to 2019 | ||
Net-zero target | 2050 | Scope 1, 2 & 3 | Achieve net zero emissions* |
* The target is to achieve net-zero emissions by reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 95% and Scope 3 emissions by 90% or more compared to 2019 levels and then achieving neutralization of residual emissions that are difficult to reduce through removal from the atmosphere and permanent storage.
The Toyota Tsusho Group issued its Carbon Neutrality Declaration in July 2021 with the aim of achieving net zero emissions by 2050 and announced its Carbon Neutrality Roadmap 2030*3 in November of that year. The Group set a target of reducing Group GHG emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 50% compared to 2019 by 2030 and has been taking action to achieve this target.
At this time, the Group has evolved its existing targets by establishing new near-term targets (1.5°C scenario) for 2030 GHG emissions across the entire value chain including supply chains (Scope 3) and set and announced an ambitious and comprehensive net-zero target for 2050 that covers all of Scope 1, 2, and 3 as the Group’s Net Zero Declaration.
To fulfill our mission of “passing on a better Earth to the children of the future,” the Toyota Tsusho Group is working to achieve the above reduction targets, thereby contributing even more to the realization of a decarbonized society.

*1: An international initiative that encourages companies to set science-based GHG emission reduction targets in order to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. It is jointly operated by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the CDP (a non-governmental organization), the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the UN Global Compact.
*2: The Paris Agreement, adopted in December 2015, incorporates long-term goals for GHG emission reduction (mitigation), including maintaining temperature increase well below 2°C (the 2°C target) while continuing efforts to limit it to 1.5°C and achieving net-zero anthropogenic GHG emissions (balancing emissions with removal) in the second half of the century.
