Construction Begins at the Yatsushiro Biomass Power Plant

Toyota Tsusho Corporation ("Toyota Tsusho") announced today that Kumamoto Forest Generation, LLC, jointly invested by Toyota Tsusho Group company Ene-Vision Co., Ltd. ("Ene-Vision"), Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. ("Chubu Electric"), and Toho Gas Co., Ltd. ("Toho Gas"), began construction on the Yatsushiro Biomass Power Plant on April 18, 2022.

The Yatsushiro Biomass Power Plant will be constructed in Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture. It is a wood-burning biomass power plant that will generate 75,000 kW of power and plans to begin operation in June 2024.

Ene-Vision, Chubu Electric, and Toho Gas are promoting efforts to realize a decarbonized society and will contribute to the reduction of environmental burden and decarbonization through this power generation project.

The Toyota Tsusho Group will contribute to the transition into a decarbonized society, in order to deliver a better global environment to the children of the future, by accelerating businesses that contribute to GHG emission reduction throughout the industrial lifestyle and promoting initiatives toward carbon neutrality.
