The Hydrogen Utilization Study Group in Chubu ("the Study Group"), of which Toyota Tsusho Corporation ("Toyota Tsusho") is a participating member, has concluded a Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement for the Realization of a Large-scale Hydrogen Society in Chubu ("the Agreement") with Gifu Prefecture, Aichi Prefecture, Mie Prefecture, and Nagoya City ("the Three Prefectures and One City") and Nagoya Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Central Japan Economic Federation, and Chubu Association of Corporate Executives ("the Three Economic Organizations"). The purpose of the Agreement is to achieve supply chain construction for large-scale implementation and stable utilization of hydrogen in the Chubu region.

Also, in conjunction with the conclusion of the Agreement, a Committee for Promoting Social Implementation of a Large-scale Hydrogen Supply Chain in Chubu has been established to promote specific initiatives for achievement of the abovementioned purpose.


<Cooperation Matters in the Agreement>

Toyota Tsusho will cooperate with the Three Prefectures and One City and the Three Economic Organizations on the following matters for the social implementation of a hydrogen supply chain, which will play a key role in achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

- Various initiatives, including infrastructure development and planning, to promote the importing, storage, supply, and utilization of hydrogen
- Initiatives contributing to promotion of hydrogen utilization
- Other initiatives necessary for early realization of a hydrogen society


[Background to Conclusion of the Agreement]

The realization of a "hydrogen society" will play an important role in the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. In order to promote initiatives for construction of a large-scale hydrogen supply chain, it is necessary for the national government, local governments, the business community, and industry to work together. The Chubu region has a wide variety of industries and a large potential for CO₂ reduction and hydrogen demand. It is considered to be the best model region for industrial structure and energy conversion, as well as supply chain reform. The like-minded Three Prefectures and One City, Three Economic Organizations, and Study Group, having concluded the Agreement, will specifically study and accelerate activities for the social implementation of a large-scale hydrogen society in the Chubu region.
