Toyota Tsusho Corporation (Toyota Tsusho) announced today that 100 percent of the electric power consumption at all its offices in Japan is effectively generated using renewable energy sources. More specifically, the company uses the J-Credit Scheme* generated using renewable energy sources and, since January 2019, the electric power consumption at all 18 of its offices across 11 prefectures in Japan has been CO2-free; as a result, Toyota Tsusho achieved to consume 100% of the electricity generated using renewable energy sources.
In March 2018, Toyota Tsusho identified its key sustainability issues (Materiality). This was a means of clarifying which societal issues it intended to focus on as part of its management strategy, in response to recent movements in the international society. The renewable energy initiatives announced today are aimed at realizing one of these sustainability issues, namely "Contribute to the transition to a low-carbon society by reducing automotive, manufacturing, and energy plant construction CO2 emissions through the use of clean energy and innovative technologies".
Going forward, Toyota Tsusho is committed to contributing toward the transition to a low-carbon society through the way not only using the J-Credit Scheme, but also taking advantage of its own and Group companies' renewable energy.
