Message from Artist
I am very honoured to be among the winners of THE TOYOTA TSUSHO CFAO African Art Award. For me, this represents a combination of recognition and honour.I am very grateful to the curatorial team at Toyota Tsusho and CFAO for this initiative, which helps to promote and encourage the creative energy of artists on the continent, but also to bring our vision of the world to a wider audience. Sincere thanks to the members of the jury and the nominator for choosing my work among so many others. For several years now, my work has focused on the notion of memory, the passage of time through individual and collective narratives, and the places that carry this memory. I materialise this through photographic performances, videos and installations. For this award, I am honoured to present the photo series ‘Land of Milk and Honey’ 2022-2025 and ‘Imaginary Trip III’ 2024.
