Message from Artist
I'm truly grateful for this award, feeling humbled and reflective. My work pays close attention to what is often left behind—materials, knowledge, technologies, and cultures that travel from East and West to settle in Zimbabwe and across Africa, carrying stories of use, pollution, and resilience. This honor resonates not only with my practice but also with the wisdom of the Korekore people where I come from, along with knowledge from the global south and the resilient communities of Mbare, where discarded objects are given new meaning. With this recognition, I celebrate the unseen, the forgotten, and the hope of renewal through thoughtful, sustainable futures. Thank you all once again for this meaningful acknowledgment.
