Background

Toyota Tsusho opened Dhaka Liaison Office—its first overseas office—in 1952. Since then, the company has undertaken business in Bangladesh for more than 70 years, working to develop the country's industry and address its social issues.
In the field of mobility, Toyota Tsusho established Toyota Bangladesh Limited ("TBL")—a local company in Bangladesh—through 100% foreign direct investment (FDI) in August 2025. A directly operated showroom was opened in Tejgaon, Dhaka, in December 2025. This has allowed Toyota Tsusho to build a business foundation—with investments exceeding US$5 million—that provides an integrated series of services, from vehicle sales to after-sales services. In addition, through direct employment and development of specialized human resources in the local market, the company is contributing to the realization of a safe and secure mobility life and the formation of a healthy mobility value chain.

Overview of Future Plan and Investment

During the roundtable, Toyota Tsusho announced an additional investment of US$45 million by the end of 2026 toward Bangladesh's further economic growth and improvement of its mobility environment. This will bring the cumulative total of mobility-related investments in the country to over US$50 million. Furthermore, Toyota Tsusho will also expand its business foundation while considering the future possibility of a vehicle assembly (KD* production) business in Bangladesh.

In the future, Toyota Tsusho will expand its sales and service locations to major regions outside of Dhaka. At the same time, the company will strengthen its system for supplying genuine parts and improving the quality of services being provided to its customers. In addition, Toyota Tsusho will promote job creation, human resource development, and technology transfer in Bangladesh, expand the scope of the mobility industry, and contribute toward strengthening the country's economic foundation.
*KD: Abbreviation for Knock Down, a method in which vehicles are shipped overseas as components rather than finished vehicles and assembled locally.

Future Outlook

Under the philosophy of "With Bangladesh, For Bangladesh," the Toyota Tsusho Group will expand locations and advance human resource development and technology transfer locally, contributing toward realizing sustainable growth and a mobility society in Bangladesh.
