The Toyota Tsusho Group has a legacy of more than 170 years in Africa. Under its vision of "WITH AFRICA FOR AFRICA", the Group has built equal, long-term partnerships with countries across the continent and fostered deep relationships of trust with local communities.
The Award is a cultural and artistic initiative launched by Toyota Tsusho and CFAO in August 2025 to extend this legacy into the fields of culture and the arts. Believing that the empowerment of young people is essential to Africa's sustainable social development, the initiative aims to help develop the next generation of talent and support the growth of local communities by discovering and supporting emerging African artists.

In recent years, art from Africa has attracted growing global attention for its diversity and originality. The Exhibition will feature works by five award recipients from Zimbabwe, South Africa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Botswana, and Ethiopia, offering visitors an opportunity to experience the diversity, depth, and appeal of contemporary African art through their works.
Following the exhibition held in Lomé, Togo, from June 2026, the Exhibition is also scheduled to travel to the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, France, in April 2027.
Through the Award, Toyota Tsusho will support promising artists from Africa and, in order to pass on a better Earth to the future children, connect Africa with the world through culture and the arts and work together to create Africa's future.
