Toyota Tsusho's Three Projects Selected Under METI's FY2025 Global South Future-Oriented Co-Creation Project (Small-Scale Demonstration and Feasibility Studies)

Toyota Tsusho Corporation ("Toyota Tsusho") announced today that three of its projects have been selected under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's FY2025 Supplementary Budget Subsidy for Global South Future-Oriented Co-Creation Projects (Small-Scale Demonstration and Feasibility Studies)*. The three projects are "Argentine Republic: Demonstration Project for the Promotion of Digital Transformation Using Drones and Green Lasers in Lithium Salt Lake Measurement Operations," "Republic of Togo: Feasibility Study on Grid Resilience Using Low-Loss Power Transmission and Distribution to Improve Renewable Energy Electrification Efficiency," and "Republic of Uganda: Feasibility Study on the Development of Water Supply Infrastructure to Support Industrial Diversification in the Tororo District," and were officially selected as of June 30, 2026.
1. Argentine Republic: Demonstration Project for the Promotion of Digital
Transformation Using Drones and Green Lasers in Lithium Salt Lake Measurement Operations
At the Salar de salt lake in Argentina, demonstrations will be conducted for contactless water depth measurement using green lasers on domestically produced drones as well as the building of a digital twin. The goals are to reduce man-hours of measurement operations that are traditionally carried out manually, improve the accuracy of such operations, promote digital transformation of production sites, and deploy data measurement and analysis services using drones to countries outside Japan.
2. Republic of Togo: Feasibility Study on Grid Resilience Using Low-Loss Power
Transmission and Distribution to Improve Renewable Energy Electrification Efficiency
In Togo, a new solar power generation system that includes power transmission lines, substations, and storage batteries will be established, and evaluation will be conducted in an integrated manner, covering aspects from power generation to transmission. Toward expanding renewable energy sources based on Togo's national power plan targets, solutions will be offered for the issue of reducing transmission and distribution losses. Through this, Toyota Tsusho seeks to achieve a model case of high-efficiency transmission lines and substations utilizing Japanese technology.
3. Republic of Uganda: Feasibility Study on the Development of Water Supply
Infrastructure to Support Industrial Diversification in the Tororo District
In Eastern Uganda's Tororo District, a feasibility study will be conducted toward the development of a water supply infrastructure supporting industrial diversification and sustainable regional economic growth. Toyota Tsusho seeks to promote the overseas deployment of advanced Japanese technologies and the development of emerging markets through stable water supply and service quality improvement.
Based on the results of the feasibility studies, Toyota Tsusho will aim for future project realization while continuing to work to solve social and environmental issues by meeting the needs of society and customers.
