Toyota Tsusho Corporation ("Toyota Tsusho") announced today that in May 2025 it invested in amuse oneself Inc. ("amuse oneself"), a company that develops drones and sensing devises.

amuse oneself, established in 2011, has built a comprehensive system that provides services, from the development and operation of drone aircraft to data analysis, including hybrid drones capable of long-duration and long-distance flights by combining gasoline and battery power, as well as systems for analyzing and visualizing measured data. By leveraging these technologies, the company has amassed extensive experience across a wide range of fields, including inspections and measurements of infrastructure such as power transmission towers and dams, as well as surveying and monitoring at disaster sites. They have responded to requests from numerous companies, countries, and local governments both in Japan and overseas.

In 2021, Toyota Tsusho established the subsidiary Sora-iina to promote its drone business. With the aim to solve local logistical issues, the company is developing a logistics business in Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture, using fixed-wing drones to deliver medical medicines and other products to secondary remote islands that cannot be directly accessed from the mainland.

This investment aims not only to support the drone logistics business of Sora-iina, but also to expand into the field of infrastructure inspection and measurement by incorporating amuse oneself's technology and know-how. With Sora-iina taking the lead, the company plans to expand the infrastructure inspection and measurement business throughout Japan and overseas. In addition, We are also considering expanding into the inspection and measurement of facilities and equipment in the renewable energy business operated by the Toyota Tsusho Group, as well as into the field of disaster prevention in areas where human access is limited.

In the future, Toyota Tsusho will leverage its knowledge of the drone business and its extensive network to drive business expansion in Japan and overseas, aiming to develop Sora-iina into a comprehensive drone company.
