Artist Biography

Unathi Mkonto pursued a Bachelor in Architecture at Nelson Mandela University. He was also a design fellow at Architecture for Humanity in Johannesburg.
Residencies that he has participated in currently are TOLET at Zeitz Mocaa, AVOID at the A4 Arts Foundation, Stevenson Amsterdam gallery and Alma Martha, both in Cape Town, South Africa.
Solo exhibitions include Flat (2018) at Blank Gallery in Cape Town, Mkonto l Mazwana (2021) at Spaceby in Cape Town, Enclosed Camp (2022) at Open 24 hours Gallery in Cape Town, as well as Juxtapositions (2023) at Stevenson gallery in Cape Town.
