Secom Medical System Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Atsushi Komatsu), a group company of SECOM Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Ichiro Ozeki) engaging in the medical business and Toyota Tsusho Corporation (Head office: Nakamura-ku, Nagoya City; President: Ichiro Kashitani; hereinafter Toyota Tsusho) decided to build a second hospital following Sakra World Hospital (hereinafter Sakra Hospital), a general hospital operated through a joint venture company in Bengaluru (Bangalore), a core city of the IT industry located in the south of India, in the same region. The new hospital is planned to be opened at the beginning of 2027.

In India, the percentage of people who visit private hospitals to seek a certain level of healthcare is increasing amid an increase in middle class residents due to economic growth. However, the level of the country's healthcare system is much lower than the international standard in terms of the number of doctors, nurses, and hospital beds, and improving insufficient medical infrastructure is a social issue.

Sakra Hospital was opened in March 2014 as a first Japanese-style general hospital in India, and this year marks its 10th anniversary as it works to provide patient-first detailed medical service and improve healthcare quality. The hospital has also played such roles in the COVID-19 pandemic as a community-based hospital.

Under such circumstances, we have decided to build a new hospital in Bengaluru, which still has areas with no medical services, in order to contribute more than ever to the health of the people there.

The new hospital will have approx. 450 beds, exceeding 307 in Sakra Hospital, and will have the new Comprehensive Oncology Center, Comprehensive Pediatric and Perinatal Medical Center and Advanced Health Checkup Center to strengthen its medical treatment capabilities. It will also be equipped with an environment to practice digital medicine, regenerative medicine and other advanced medical care and a training facility for doctors and nurses for better education and training. The hospital will also have an advanced rehabilitation program and home healthcare services provided after a patient is discharged to enhance patients' QOL (Quality of Life).

The building will be constructed with a design for the improved movement of people to enhance functionality, based on the operating experience in Sakra Hospital, as well as with greenery and natural light so that visitors will be able to spend time more comfortably.

With the new hospital, Sakra Hospital will further contribute to Indian healthcare with the mission to support the better lives of patients with the best medical services.
