The Toyota Tsusho Group issued its Carbon Neutrality Declaration in July 2021 and announced its Net Zero Declaration--which has acquired SBT
validation--in July 2025. The Group sets ambitious targets of reducing its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 50% compared to 2019
by 2030 and net zero Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions across the entire value chain by 2050. Joining RE100, it aims to use 100% renewable energy in its
business activities by 2040. It will install solar panels at its factories, introduce renewable energy in Japan and overseas using storage batteries and energy
management systems, and promote the use of renewable energy-derived electricity options and environmental values ​​such as non-fossil fuel certificates.
Japan Climate Leaders' Partnership (JCLP), a coalition of companies seeking to realize a sustainable, decarbonized society, provided support for the joining
of RE100.

The Toyota Tsusho Group will contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society by joining RE100 and achieving the above reduction targets to fulfill its
mission of "passing on a better Earth to the children of the future."

Sidi Bouzid Mezzouna PV Power

Tozeur PV Power

This project is Toyota Tsusho's first renewable energy project in Tunisia and AEOLUS' first investment project. The two solar power plants being constructed in Tunisia's Sidi Bouzid and Tozeur governorates through an operating company funded by AEOLUS and Scatec ASA, a Norwegian company involved in the construction and operation of solar power plants, have now been completed. Sidi Bouzid Mezzouna PV Power (50MW) began commercial operation on January 1, 2026, and Tozeur PV Power (50MW) began commercial operation on March 4, 2026.

Going forward, these plants will supply electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of approximately 120,000 Tunisian households (resulting in approximately 108,000 tons of reduced CO₂ emissions) to the Tunisian Company of Electricity and Gas for a period of 30 years.

Both power plants were selected by the Ministry of the Environment, Japan for Financing Programme for Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) Model Projects* in FY2023.

In Africa, under the key message "for the future children of Africa," we will continue to promote green businesses that contribute to solving social issues and realizing economic growth in Africa.

* Ministry of the Environment, Japan has been implementing the "JCM Model Projects," which provides financial supports covering up to half of the initial investment costs. The purpose of this model projects is to financially support the implementation of projects which reduce GHG emissions by utilizing leading decarbonizing technologies in developing countries, and in return, to acquire JCM credits for achievement of Japan's GHG emission reduction and the partner countries' emission reduction target. This project is being implemented with the cooperation of the Tunisian and Japanese governments.

Toyota Tsusho's Human Resources Principle^*1 is to realize its management strategies based on "Genchi, Genbutsu, Genjitsu (On site, hands on, in touch)." Accordingly, from the perspective of overall optimization, Toyota Tsusho will employ, develop, and advance employees who can collaborate and lead the way to an even better future. Under this principle, Toyota Tsusho positions diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) as a management foundation that enables diverse human capital to use their capabilities to the fullest, and is advancing reforms toward flexible and productive ways of working.

Toyota Tsusho also regards dual careers and co-parenting as a prerequisite for enabling each employee to build a medium- to long-term career and continue taking on new challenges. Regardless of gender, it is expanding a range of systems and encouraging their use to support employees in achieving work-life balance through flexible work styles.

In particular, Toyota Tsusho has been promoting new values by introducing the concept of "childcare learning," in which childcare leave is not considered a "vacation" but rather an "opportunity to learn," since 2023. To make this concept take root not as a mere policy but as the attitude of each and every employee, it is creating work environments that include the expansion of systems that support work-life balance.

From 2025, to further advance these efforts, Toyota Tsusho established the Human Company Taskforce, a company-wide cross-functional council bringing together officers from each division. The taskforce has begun discussing and making decisions each month on issues related to people and organizations as a management agenda. This approach not only builds systems for women's empowerment, but also translates into behavioral change through integrated action by both management and frontline employees.

This award aims to help develop the next generation of African talent and vibrant, resilient communities through the discovery and support of young African artists.

In the selection process, 35 art professionals active around the world, including curators and art critics, participated as nominators through the global networks of Toyota Tsusho and CFAO. Approximately 100 artists representing local art scenes across Africa were nominated. From these, a shortlist of 12 artists was established based on originality, coherence, and relevance. Following a rigorous screening process conducted by 10 jury members, five award recipients were named across five prizes categories: one Grand Prize, two Distinguished Awards, and two Sponsor Awards.

Representative works by the winners will be exhibited starting with an exhibition in the Republic of Togo in June, followed by exhibitions in Japan and France.

Through this award, Toyota Tsusho will support promising artists from Africa, and together, help create the continent's future. In Japan, an exhibition is scheduled to take place in Tokyo in October.
