Toyota Tsusho Corporation ("Toyota Tsusho") announced today that it is collaborating with Zeroboard Inc. ("Zeroboard") to provide "zeroboard"--a service for the calculation and visualization of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions developed by Zeroboard--to contribute toward the achievement of carbon neutrality by customers. The service will be offered starting from March 2022.

With more than 120 countries around the world setting the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, companies are required to understand and work on reducing their own GHG emissions as well as GHG emissions across the entire value chain of their business activities. For Scope 1 and 2 emissions, which refer to a company's direct and indirect emissions, there are more and more companies working on visualization, such as collecting information within the company. At the same time, the high hurdle of visualizing Scope 3 emissions, which refer to emissions across the entire value chain, is an issue as a wide range of information is required and collaboration between companies is necessary.

The cloud service "zeroboard" allows visualization of Scope 1 and 2 as well as Scope 3 emissions based on a global standard (GHG Protocol). Besides functions that allow collaboration and sharing of GHG emission data between companies along the value chain, there are other features such as an intuitive and easy-to-use interface and entry models being offered at affordable price ranges. This makes "zeroboard" an effective method for small and medium-sized enterprises to embark on carbon neutrality.

Toyota Tsusho has set targets to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and reduce GHG emissions by 50% below 2019 levels by 2030. It has also announced that investments with a scale of 1.6 trillion yen will be made by 2030 in five key areas that are the Group's strengths: renewable energy & energy management, batteries, hydrogen & carbon-neutral fuels, resource circulation & the 3Rs (rebuild, reuse, recycle), and the economy of life (fields relating to medicine, clothing, food and housing). Going forward, besides visualizing Toyota Tsusho's Scope 3 emissions and accelerating the management of progress toward the targets using zeroboard, the company will contribute toward the achievement of carbon neutrality by customers as a one-stop provider of solutions for GHG emission reduction--such as renewable energy--while visualizing the GHG emissions of suppliers.

The Toyota Tsusho Group will continue to contribute toward the transition to a carbon neutral society by accelerating businesses contributing to the reduction of GHG through the industrial life cycle and promoting initiatives toward carbon neutrality, so as to pass on a better global environment to the children of the future.
