The acceleration of overseas production by Toyota Motor Corporation(TMC) in the 1980s was the catalyst for Toyota Tsusho to strengthen technical guidance at TMC’soverseas plants, and in the 2000s the company entered the blanking business. It was no easy taskto get production plants to embrace the Toyota Production System (TPS), but Toyota Tsusho wasdetermined to provide global support for the automobile production of TMC, declaring that“wewill never let the customer’s line stop.”184
