Section 4 Celebrating 70 Years of Business1 Hosting Reception of Appreciation EventsTo commemorate the 70th anniversary of itsestablishment, Toyota Tsusho organized concerts inTokyo and Nagoya to express its gratitude to all itscustomers and stakeholders. Unfortunately, the Tokyoconcert was canceled due to a typhoon that landed in theKanto (East Japan) region and passed through the Kansai(West Japan) region?the opposite course to a usualtyphoon. But on September 1, 2018, about 1,800 inviteesattended the Reception of Appreciation concert by theNagoya Philharmonic Orchestra and singer-songwriterShinji Tanimura at Century Hall in the NagoyaInternational Conference Center.2 Compiling a 70-Year History of ToyotaTsushoToyota Tsusho’s first history, 40 Years of ToyotaTsusho, was published in March 1991, and its secondhistory, 50 Years of Toyota Tsusho, was published inSeptember 1999. The company’s 60th anniversary wasin 2008, less than two years after merger with Tomen,and right in the middle of the global financial crisiscaused by the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy. Given thissituation, Toyota Tsusho made the decision to forgo thepublication of a history that year.
