The new company provides catering,commuting, accounting, and other services for Yamahaand Yamaha Tier 1 suppliers in the suburbs of Chennaiand commenced operations in 2014.Then, in February 2015 Toyota Tsusho decided tolaunch a third Techno Park business in Mandal IndustrialPark, in the state of Gujarat in western India, whereJapan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, theJapan External Trade Organization (JETRO), and theGujarat state government were working together toattract Japanese businesses. The company acquiredapproximately 200,000 square meters of land in theindustrial estate and in October 2016 began operatingbusinesses such as a plug-and-play rental plant, blankingbusiness, green metals scrap recycling business, andlogistics business for Suzuki Motor Corp. and otherJapanese companies. Toyota Tsusho also startedproviding administrative services, such as general affairsand accounting, and infrastructure services, such ascatering and commuter bus operations. Toyota Tsushoalso opened a training center in the Mandal IndustrialPark: the Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing (JIM).JIM was a collaboration between the Japanese and Indiangovernments and private companies and provided ahuman resource development program for establishingJapanese-style techniques and work styles at Indianmanufacturing sites. In December 2017, Techno TrendsAuto Park Pvt. Ltd. received financing from the JapanBank for International Cooperation (JBIC).Entering the Hospital Management BusinessAs its population surged, India began to suffer froman acute shortage of medical services. Toyota TsushoIndia Pvt. Ltd. and Toyota Tsusho’s New BusinessDevelopment Department and Consumer Products,Services & Materials Division therefore started to lookat developing businesses in the medical field. ToyotaTsusho invited the Secom Group, a provider of highqualitymedical services in partnership with hospitals andclinics in Japan, to participate in a plan devised by ToyotaTsusho and the Kirloskar Group, an Indian conglomeratethat was already working with the Toyota Group in themobility field. In June 2012, a joint venture companywas established by the three investing organizations. Amodel was constructed whereby the Kirloskar Groupwas responsible for acquiring government licenses,purchasing land, and hiring medical staff; the SecomGroup would provide hospital management expertise;and Toyota Tsusho’s role involved implementingmeasures to improve business efficiency and promotekaizen (continuous improvement) in clerical operations.The new company then began managing the SakraWorld Hospital in Bangalore based on this model. Thiswas the first time a Japanese company had participatedin such an initiative, and in June 2014 the companyreceived financing from the Japan Bank for InternationalCooperation (JBIC). The company continues operatingon investments from Toyota Tsusho, the Secom Group,and the JBIC.Starting Production of High-Performance PlasticsIn June 2014, Toyota Tsusho established SamvardhanaMotherson Nippisun Technology Ltd. as a joint venturewith TTIPL; Nippon Pigment Singapore Pte.
