In 1997, ToyotaTsusho established the Toyota Kako Bisai Plant as a specialized factory for autoparts.In 1996, Toyota Tsusho started its seat-replacement business, launched theTEC LINE brand, and began developing an aftermarket. The company also beganimporting and selling the Italian aluminum wheel brand TGF.Industrial Materials Department ExpansionThe Industrial Materials Department was handling the three sectors of wood,paper and pulp, and mineral products. The wood sector expanded its industrialuse of timber from forest-planted trees, which are considered to be a uniquelyinexhaustible natural timber resource. In the paper and pulp sector, Toyota Tsushostably supplied packaging materials and cardboard for TMC and other ToyotaGroup companies, and subsequently began recycling waste paper.In the mineral products sector, Toyota Tsusho stably supplied secondary castingmaterials, and aimed to expand exports to ASEAN (Association of SoutheastAsian Nations) and the U.S., where TMC and parts manufacturers had expandedtheir production bases.
