TTET employs Thai software engineers and implements training for programming languages and development technologies and also implements the quality systems necessary for developing integrated software for electronic control units in vehicles while consignments for software development work will be received from Toyota Motor Corporation and Toyota Group companies.
Toyota Tsusho Group is expanding their software domain into new business areas through such means as the non-profit organization, Japan Automotive Software Platform and Architecture?*JASPAR*?, which was established jointly with three Japanese automobile manufacturers, Toyota, Nissan and Honda. Through such efforts, they are seeking to take advantage of synergies with the sale of semiconductors for car electronics. TTET will be launching their software development work for Toyota Motor Corporation and Toyota Group companies during their initial fiscal year with the intention of taking in sales amounting to JY200 million. TTET?s target in five years is to make JY3.5 billion in sales from consigned development work from car electronics-related enterprises.
Electronic control systems installed in vehicles continue to grow rapidly in recent years in terms of the technologies used and the number of vehicle installations. Hence there has been a dramatic increase in the number of software developed for embedding into systems, resulting in a shortage problem of software engineers for embedded software, which is now becoming critical. In the last few years and in such circumstances, development of resources have been secured through the utilization of overseas personnel and the distribution of tasks across international boundaries has been progressing, mainly in the Asian sector. A hardware (vehicle) industry exists in Thailand, which is essential for the embedded software. The government of Thailand is also proactively promoting the introduction of foreign investment for the embedded software industry. This particular case was the very first business to be officially authorized by the Board of Investments (BOI) of Thailand. TTET will promote and evolve the overseas outsourcing of vehicle control system software developments in the Toyota Group and hope also to contribute to the progress of the embedded software industry in Thailand.
