Kasho's History (before merger)


November 30, 1923Mr.Shoichi Ishikawa, general manager, Tokyo Branch of Kato Shokai Co., Ltd. Founds Kato Shogyo(Commerce) Co., Ltd. the forerunner of Kasho Co., Ltd. at Nihonbashi, Tokyo, after the Tokyo Branch burns down in tha Great Kanto Earthquake. Kasto Shogyo starts trading activities mainly with Southeast Asia.(Capital:¥200,000)
1924Singapore Office established
1926Kobe Office established
1928Corporate name changed to Kasho Co., Ltd.
1933Nagoya Office established
1934Osaka Office established
1960San Francisco Office established
1969Stock listed on Second Section of Tokyo Stock Exchange(Captal:¥363 million).
San Francisco Office formed into corporation under the name of Kasho (U.S.A.) Inc.
1970Jakarta Representative Office established
1973New head office building completed
1977Stock listed on First Section of Tokyo Stock Exchange (Capital:¥1,144million)
1980Beijing Representative Office established
1985Shanghai Representative Office established
1988Kasho (U.S.A.) Inc. establishes Chicago Office
1989Manila Representative Office established
1990Fukuoka Office established. Kobe Office integrated into Osaka Office
1991Business Division system commenced, with three divisions established: Foods, General Merchandise and Paper & Pulp, and Chemicals & Rubber
1993Myanmar Liaison Office set up
1995Myanmar Liaison Office formed into corporation under the name of Myanmar Kasho Co., Ltd.
1996Kasho merges with Tokyo Maruichi Shoji Co., Ltd.(Capital:¥1,656million).
Ho Chi Minh City Representative Office established.
1999Business tie-up concluded with Toyota Tsusho Corporation
