Processing, Logistics and Storage Functions that Meet the Needs of Users and Suppliers
The core strength of Toyota Tsusho's Metals business is the high level of precision and quality of its operations in collaboration with domestic and overseas manufacturing and processing companies. As a prime example, our steel center, the main domestic processing end logistics canter for our steel sheet business, shares information with suppliers and users and implements efficient processing, storage and logistics operations for the specific production conditions of each company. In nonferrous metals, we carry out a business for supplying aluminum in molten form rather than as conventional ingots to users in such regions as North America, Europe and Asia, with the aim of reducing both energy costs and environmental loads.
Recycling Businesses that Aim to Reduce Environmental Loads
As a company intricately involved in the production and sales of automobiles, for more than 30 years we have actively promoted the ELV recycling business with the aim of reducing the impact of ELVs on the Earth's environment. We carry out a comprehensive recycling business that encompasses the recycling of scrap metal utilizing a nationwide collection network and are also jointly developing recycling technologies with automobile manufacturers.
Japan's Automobile Recycling Law, which went into effect in January 2005, specifically requires manufactures and importers of automobiles to carry out proper processing and recycling of automobile shredder residue (ASR)*. Tapping a plethora of experience and know- how in this field, the Toyota Tsusho Group has been consigned by various automobile manufactures to provide services for processing and recycling ASR. While working to achieve incremental increases in targeted ASR recycling rates, we will continue to build an efficient recycling system.
*ASR: Shredder dust that remains after recyclable scrap is removed from shredded vehicles.
